dr_resize.jpgWelcome! Dr. Mark Theriault has been a board certified, licensed Chiropractor and Trusted Wellness Advisor since 1993. He continues to free people from pain, suffering and physical limitations at his primary location in Denver, NC, which opened September 10, 2001.  As a doctor with nearly 20 years of 'official' experience, "Dr. T" and his team strive to really understand their patients' "wants" and blend that with what is needed to achieve fast relief and long lasting correction. We are proud to say that a large part of our practice is built on the loving referrals from friends, family, past & present staff, as well as past & present patients who all want the best of health for those they care about. As the saying goes, "Chiropractic will add life to your years and years to your life - so share it!"

I first became interested in a natural, hands-on approach to health and wellness through my Mom. Being originally from northern Maine, I grew up with a lot of snow, making it the perfect winter wonderland for adventurers like me. However, when I was only 5, my Mom suffered with multiple injuries in a car accident as a result of icy weather. She began seeing a local Doctor of Chiropractic for her pain and suffering and thus began a long road to recovery. My Dad worked out of town a lot so I decided to help Mom every morning and evening by massaging her sore muscles and damaged joints. I know my efforts were instrumental in helping her start her day a little easier despite my little hands getting soooo sore and tired! But I told myself then as I do now, 'if this is what God really wants me to do, then I will do it well and be better off for it!' Long story short, Mom recovered and apparently, that was the start of God's plan for me and my 'magic' hands. Fast forward a few years, I ended up moving with my family to New Jersey at age 11 (country boy turns into city boy!) and shortly thereafter my Mom had another serious MVA(motor vehicle accident) due to a manufacturing defect with 1 of her tires.  These injuries were much, much worse but she still sought out a chiropractor to help her recover. Once again I got to witness the profound impact the adjustments made in her miraculous healing. I was given the opportunity to try chiropractic at that time but stopped going after only a couple of visits because its purpose wasn't clear to me (and it lost its value). While in college studying pre-vet, I quickly learned that chickens, bunnies and horses didn't interest me as much as how the human body worked. In the process, I decided to re-visit Mom's chiropractor and began receiving regular adjustments to help with stress, while entertaining the possiblity of becoming a GEN-U-INE 'bone cracker'. I enjoyed how it made me feel and could really see a definite  improvement in my allergies, hyperactivity, ability to focus, tension levels, flexibility, and overall ability to cope better with life's surprises.

I eventually realized that part of God's plan for my life was to share this skill He'd begun developing in me at a very young age. I believe that part of what makes me one of the best chiropractic practitioners around are the hundreds of extra hours I've spent working on the back, years before I even thought of chiropractic as a career. I believe it gives me an advantage in helping sick people get well faster and stay well longer. My heart is also in the right place, as illustrated in my professional mission statement which reads:

My professional mission is to be a dedicated and successful chiropractor, serving the community of any town by offering the finest, affordable chiropractic healthcare services with professionalism, clinical expertise and compassion.

It is why Family Chiropractic's purpose statement reads:

The purpose of our clinic is to support as many people as possible in their quest for health & to educate them about Chiropractic so they may,  in turn, educate others.

We use a "whole person approach" when taking care of our patients. By combining the very best computerized instrumental and hands-on-technique, state of the art physiotherapy and advanced rehabilitative procedures we can help them achieve better outcomes. We provide our patients the opportunity to meet THEIR specific nutritional needs through a specialized software program that is based on Acupuncture, which has been used for thousands of years and has helped millions of people/animals with hundreds of conditions. By offering some of the best wholefood pharmaceutical grade supplements on the market today, we are able to help you accelerate and/or maintain your journey to excellent health and well-being. This will also save you alot time and money because you no longer have to guess about what your body needs to function optimally. The system's software determines this for you! And it can also reveal what foods your body prefers, in case you have allergies or sensitivities to certain things you may not even be aware of. It gives you another valuable, research-based way to evaluate your body's level of function in addition to some of the other proven methods you've probably already experienced such as a blood test, urinalysis, etc.  Know that this technology has been thoroughly researched and is FDA approved.

Through the Foot Levelers System, we offer custom orthotics that support all 3 arches in your feet while also acting as pelvic stabilizers for the spine. This creates a new foundation and allows for proper posture and more efficient energy expenditure. Ultimately it ends up helping our patients hold their spinal adjustments longer, saving them time and money in the long run because they don't need to come in as often!

We invite you to visit and come meet us, to see if we can help. If we can, GREAT! If we can't, then we will be honest and refer you to the appropriate specialist. Either way, it's worth your time and money, which we will never waste, because we consider all of our patients 'family' and will treat you accordingly. I enjoy working with other medical professionals such as ortho's, neuro's, internists, osteopaths, podiatrists, acupuncturists, physical/occupational therapists, counselors and massage therapists, just to name a few. A coordinated multidisciplinary approach will help the patient have a better clinical outcome while saving two of their most precious resources, time and money. However, you must also realize that some medical specialists still don't know a lot about chiropractic even though both fields have been around for roughly the same period of time (110 years). Asking your medical doctor if you should try chiropractic (and if it would help) could end up being like asking a brake specialist if your vehicle needs an alignment - you may or may not get accurate and unbiased information. Bottom line, trust your gut and know that you can trust us.  Finally, we are always open to and welcome your feedback, as that can only help improve our mission's success. We look forward to serving you.

Yours for better health,  Dr. T
